The End of Civilisation as we know it.
Unless you're a total 'Hitchhiker's' loon or a complete novice....I wouldn't bother going to the movie.
And (shock, horror) 'War of the Worlds' was shot in New Jersey.
'scuse me. I must just quickly go and commit ritual suicide.

My dad said read the book, I would enjoy that more!
i cannot understand why spielberg wouldn't follow the wells novel more closely. (hg that is, not orson). i will join you in ritual suicide, particularly if like the 1953 film, the characters end up in a church in the final scene. wells' novel was so critical of religion (the main character KILLS the cleric, for cryin' out loud), that this ending (bacteria killing the aliens = divine intervention) irks me to no end.
Sure. The NJ thing is entirely beside the point, of course. To judge by the poster it's just another horror/disaster movie with squishy green monsters. I'm prepared to meet a movie on its own terms, but not when it apes a classic.
I'm SUCH a pseud...
